The victims included the pilot and a passenger on the plane and three children inside the home. (August 4)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] This small Oregon town is in a state of shock after a plane hit a tree then slammed into a rental home...killing at least 5 people.((16:15:35 SOT: It's just devastating.))This couple says they could see and feel the Monday morning crash blocks away.((Sonya Studder:We were both still in bed and we heard this terrible explosion. And I said Oh my gosh. What was that.He got up looked around. Then my husband went out on the porch and saw this fireball.))Investigators say 6 people had been staying at the rental property for a vacation and a family reunion.The man who owns the home was on the scene Monday afternoon. He says while authorities aren't releasing very many details about the crash...he's already heard some horrific accounts from people who live in the area.((Greg Marshall/Owner SOT: There was this guy who was going to work and he saw this lady basically blown out of the house on fire, screaming for her children.))3 children who were staying in the home were killed. Both the pilot of the single engine plan and his passenger are also dead.The other people who were inside the home at the time of the crash are being treated at a local hospital. Aviation officials haven't released an official cause of the crash, but weather may have played a role. The plane took off from a nearby airport during conditions described as foggy with low clouds.The F-A-A is conducting an investigation.
